He is a no – nonsense coach that leads by example and strives to get the best out of every student whilst exposing them to limits they didn’t think possible. Anthony is an active ‘hands on’ coach and is always involved with every member’s development. Anthony leads the Phoenix team of dedicated Coaches by running a structured and organised developmental program that gets the best out of everyone and provides a organised coaching system second to none. The Phoenix system has more coaches than any other club in the ACT. They all work in the same system and deliver the same professional results.
Anthony was coached by Mick Spinks and Larry Papadopolous and still actively trains and develops his skills and knowledge in order to ensure his students get the best training available. Anthony is incredibly innovative and always practicing the latest ways to get the best out of students. Anthony is not tolerant of people who bring excuses, cant be responsible for themselves, snow flakes, posers, egos, talkers, and wingers, so if you want to succeed at Phoenix, do the work to earn it, be in the team, loyal to the team and you will get as far as your obsession desires. Anthony is 100% in favour of a healthy, balanced and peaceful life and doesn’t tolerate any form of illegal drug use, short cuts, or puffy muscles, bullies or weak people that hang out in gangs. Anthony did a traditional Karate as a teenager to the level of 2nd Dan, before he realised how false and misleading the method of training was in the real world. It was very impractical, rewarded mediocrity, was run like a cult, but delivered nothing it promised to its students, if tested outside the confines of a small school hall with like minded deluded people. When Anthony meet Mick Spinks and took up kickboxing and BJJ, his eyes were opened to the effectiveness of true martial training, competition and the great people in the sport.
Anthony competed extensively at traditional martial arts before competing at Muay Thai and Kickboxing as an amateur and then professional. Anthony has competition experience at Kickboxing, K-1, Muaythai, Boxing, BJJ, Wrestling, Karate, MMA and even (as a child who didnt know better) breaking innocent tiles and doing forms/kata in the air.
